Ever wonder what your camp nurse actually wants from you? We get the scoop with Paula Lauer, President of The Association of Camp Nursing. She fills us in on everything from time off, to pay rate, and lets us know which little things are going to make your nurse very happy.

Paula has worked a whole bunch of jobs at camp, her dream position has been camp nurse though, and she’s currently the health care supervisor at Wisconsin Lions Camp.
She gives some awesome advice for camp directors about being on the forefront of insisting that nurses take breaks and take care of themselves, how to support your nurse, compensation perks for your nurse, and how to make your camp nurse feel welcome to participate in programs.

Do you tip food servers even if you get bad service? How much do you tip normally? Do you tip others as well, hair stylist, pizza delivery, etc?
Paula – Yes, generously, no matter what.
Patti – Mostly, she also tips at Tim Hortons.
Curt – Yes, unless there’s bad service, then he makes it clear that they’re getting a bad tip on purpose.
