Curt tells us how to run a day camp program when you have some high fixed costs using basic sports equipment, limited craft supplies, and a lot of creativity.

Curt tells us about a day camp he ran that was on an island (neat eh?!) and because of his unique location most of their budget went to fixed costs like ferry tickets, staffing, and special events.

Thanks to this experience he has some tips for running a great program with limited funds. His suggestions include:

  • No equipment games
  • Hunts
  • Imaginative play – like fairy homes
  • Themed events

Curt also gives great suggestions on how to make your staff feel appreciated on a budget and the little changes you can make to your program to save money or bring in a few extra dollars.

How do you keep your budget in check for your day camp?
