Episode 5: Celebrating Odd Holidays

___________________________________________________________________________________________

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Curt and Patti get creative and come up with some silly and spectacular ways to celebrate odd holidays with your community recreation group.

This episode was inspired by Curt’s former workplace that used Chase’s Calendar of Events and LOVED to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day (spoiler: Curt’s still a huge fan).

We also learn about Curt’s favourite holiday themed round table submission, and find out about the first time he saw snow.

For more information on the super cool activity he mentioned, click here.

Odd Holiday Ideas

For Curt’s first holiday we find out who invented the swimming flippers at age 11 and how old the person who invented the popsicle was.

Patti invents her own holiday (and to be honest, several more, cause she just can’t seem to follow the rules!) and we find out that while Curt would like to celebrate camp, Patti wants to prepare for the end of the world.

We also learn a little about the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, and Curt plugs one of his ebooks.

Patti gets SUPER excited about tin cans and socks, and Curt is STILL talking like a pirate.
We also find out that you can change your FaceBook language to pirate!!

Check out this quick tutorial.

Step 1

Once you open FaceBook, click on your name to be taken to your profile.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of your profile, and at the bottom left corner, click the plus sign next to the languages.
(See diagram)

Step 2

Scroll down the list till you see English (Pirate). Click on it and bask in the pirate-y goodness.
Bonus: Three spots below the pirate option, is an upside down option! Also fun!

Step 3

Browse around and see all the pirate changes -then share this ‘treasure chest’ of fun with your friends.

Things we’re grateful for

Curt is grateful for technology and all the goodness that it brings, and Patti is grateful for her mom & dad… and their cooking!

Random questions of the week

Would you rather see 10 days into your own future or 10 days into the future of anyone but yourself?
Patti’s worried about the responsibility, and Curt would try to stick it to the man!

What’s your favourite dinosaur?
Curt chooses his answer based on the spelling and his desire to fly, Patti chooses hers based on a 3rd grade assignment  and a movie.
