In February (3 months ago) we launched Patchwork Marketplace. We wanted a place where camp and community recreation professionals could share their awesome, personally-made resources and make a side income. Our goal was (and still is) to be the first stop for camp & recreation pros who need help with their programs, staff, facilities and everything else it takes to create an amazing program.
Unlike many tech start-ups these days with million dollar venture capital funds, we bootstrapped this site with no outside funding. We’re so proud of the community we’ve built so far and the incredible resources our sellers are churning out, but we see that there is also lots of room to grow. One of the areas we’re focusing on building is our promotion and marketing, it’s been a slow process getting the word out to camp and community recreation professionals about Patchwork because of all that bootstrapping we mentioned earlier. 🙂
But that’s okay. We are in this for the long haul. We know that recreation professionals will find us, because we have some wonderful sellers who have created some useful resources at budget friendly prices…with many more to come!
We see this as our baby phase (just wait for those terrible twos). Our desire to create a place where you can find resources, that will help you out in any situation at camp or at your community recreation job, is strong.
It will take time and it will take a grassroots movement.
